The world's most coveted race weekend,
by yacht.

The Monaco Grand Prix by yacht is thrilling and unlike anything else on the calendar. Y.CO has a Monaco office and twenty years of relationships with the port, the teams and the venues. In other words, we can make it happen. Charter expert Eleanor Bloodworth has been masterminding Monaco GP charters with Y.CO for well over a decade.

"Behind the dream there's a whole team of people making the experience really slick."

Y.CO will build the charter that's right for you. Eleanor talks us through how it all works and the options open to you. Each one delivers a different kind of weekend. Strap in for the ride of your life.

Port Hercule

The trackside berths are an elite club. Around 17 yachts of 40 to 55 metres berth on Quai des États-Unis, close to the start-finish straight. Another 20 or so smaller yachts take the corner at Tabac. These are the most coveted moorings in world sport.

The application window opens on 1 December and closes on 28 February. Alongside the vessel paperwork, the port looks for a letter of support from a Formula One team, driver or sponsor, since berths go to those closest to the sport. It's a process with plenty of moving parts, and one we know how to navigate.

Three ways to charter the Grand Prix

Pole Position

The first route is a trackside berth in Port Hercule. It's the most sought-after view in racing, which is exactly why it pays to have us on your side. We know the process, we know the port, and we've secured these berths before. Come to us early and we'll go after it on your behalf, guiding you through the process.

Harbour Access

The second is a berth inside the harbour with hospitality alongside. The Yacht Club Marina sits outside the main allocation process: no direct view of the track from the dock, but a berth comes with passes to the Yacht Club itself, with terraces overlooking the chicane and the Fairmont tunnel exit. A strong vantage point for the racing, and excellent hospitality.

A newer option is the Zone Sud on the southern side of Port Hercule, paired with passes to the Monaco Port Lounge, a hospitality barge built right on the chicane corner. These open for booking in January and move quickly, so timing is everything. It's precisely the kind of thing we watch closely, and we can often find a way in when availability looks tight.

Riviera Freedom

The third route is the one a growing number of clients now prefer. Charter a yacht and stay at anchor outside the harbour, with passes for shoreside hospitality at the Fairmont, the Hôtel de Paris, the Métropole, the Port Palace Hotel, or the Monaco Port Lounge for example. It's the most flexible way to do the weekend: a yacht you can use freely across the French Riviera, a tender to the beach clubs along the coast, mornings off Cap Ferrat, and the freedom for guests to dip in and out of the racing as they please.

"Some guests want to come ashore for the practice sessions. Others want to be at the beach club. That flexibility is the smart way to do it," Eleanor shares.

Race week

Charter contracts run a five-day minimum. Yachts arrive on the Monday before the race, so by the time you fly in on Thursday your boat is already in position. Many guests come by helicopter from Nice airport.

Practice runs on Friday. Saturday is qualifying, which the regulars rate as the best day of the weekend on points and on atmosphere. Sunday is the race. Monday, well, that's for recovery.

If you're berthed in Port Hercule, the boat stays put once it's in. From 7am to 7pm the track is live and the harbour holds station with it. The yachts on Quai des États-Unis pull back fifteen to twenty metres each morning for safety, a manoeuvre the crews call the ballet.

Most guests on the trackside boats stay on board during racing hours. If it's a party vibe you're after, you'll find it here. The atmosphere is electrifying.

Around the racing

Coya, Amazónico, Gaia, La Môme, La Vigie, Jimmy'z, Sunset. Wherever you want to be, reservations need to be made well ahead of the weekend, and we'll handle them. Saturday night is the big night, and most charters host a party on board rather than going out.

If you do choose to anchor outside the harbour, the whole Côte d'Azur opens up. Lunch at Plage Mala. An afternoon at La Réserve. Or even a post-race run down to St Tropez.

The right yacht for race weekend

Deck space and layout are everything: broad aft decks, sundeck sightlines, plenty of seating, good positions for outdoor screens.

The other question is numbers. Trackside boats often run with fifty or more guests aboard, with friends, colleagues or clients rotating in and out across the weekend. Anchor-out charters tend to be smaller and more intimate. We match the boat to how you want to host.
