Iconic regattas
Our guide to the best sailing events in the Mediterranean this Summer 2026
Speak to anyone who identifies as a sailing enthusiast and you’ll soon understand that sailing is a passion that once it takes hold, there’s no going back. Nothing beats the feeling of skimming the waves under sail, harnessing the power of the elements to travel in style, be it competitively or for pleasure.
There are several ways to indulge your love of sailing this summer in the Mediterranean. With so many regattas taking place, it’s a great way to see sailing at its best. What better way to do so than to combine with a sailing yacht charter to experience sailing from all angles? Here’s our guide to the sailing events of the Mediterranean in Summer 2026.
Balearics, Spain
24 April 2026
La Larga sets the tone for PalmaVela week with an offshore shake‑down around Mallorca. Track the fleet from quiet coves, then sail into Palma as the pontoons fill and the inshore programme begins. An exciting way to blend a cruising start with race‑day energy.
Palma de Mallorca, Spain
30 April – 3 May 2026
PalmaVela is pure Mediterranean theatre: dialled‑in race management, lively docks, and the Bay of Palma doing what it does best. Base the yacht in Palma’s old harbour for easy spectator hops and evenings in the city.
Naples, Italy
22 May 2026
An Italian classic linking three storied bays. Offshore legs, night sailing and postcard coastlines make it a favourite for maxis and performance cruisers. Anchor off Positano between starts for a quieter take on race week.
Porto Cervo, Sardinia
26–30 May 2026
Yacht Club Costa Smeralda pairs precision race craft with Sardinian polish. Watch big‑boat courses thread the Maddalena archipelago by day, then step ashore for the regatta’s chic social programme. The 2026 Notice of Race confirms the Corinthian Spirit division alongside the Southern Wind Rendezvous.
Livorno - Punta Ala, Italy
30 May 2026
A fast sprint along Tuscany’s coast that brings the fleet near Forte dei Marmi before they head toward the Tuscan Archipelago. Watch from the Forte pier or nearby luxury beach clubs, then follow the boats south for an overnight yacht‑charter pairing.
Antiparos, Greece
10–13 June 2026
Aegean breeze, tight island courses, unhurried evenings. The third edition has already become a fixture for Med‑based superyachts seeking competitive sailing without losing the island pace. Base in Antiparos and day‑sail to Despotiko for swims after racing.
Saint‑Tropez - Genoa
12–20 June 2026
A week of racing in Saint‑Tropez followed by the classic passage around the Giraglia rock to a finish in Genoa. Simple to plan and easy to follow: begin in Saint‑Tropez for the opening action, then position in Liguria for the arrivals and prize‑giving.
Mallorca, Spain
24–27 June 2026
Taking it back to Palma for the Superyacht Cup Palma, where big‑boat sailors get serious. Clear courses, reliable breeze and a social scene within strolling distance of the quay.
Porto Cervo, Sardinia
June 2026
The TP52s deliver fingertip racing off Porto Cervo. Intense, short‑course sailing set metres from the rocks; best angles by tender, then back to shore for dockside debriefs. Arguably the regatta with the most action, pressure, and spectacle. The TP52 World Championship, the pinnacle of grand‑prix monohull racing is truly something not to miss.
Sounio loop, Greece
5 July 2026
A full‑fat 600‑mile lap of the Aegean past capes, temples and volcanic islands. Shadow a leg by mothership and pick vantage points at Milos or Santorini while the fleet sends it.
Palermo to Monaco
18 August 2026
A summer offshore that connects two glamorous worlds. Shadow the fleet along northern Sicily, then beat them to Port Hercule for a front‑row berth at the line.
Porto Cervo, Sardinia
6–12 September 2026
The benchmark maxi regatta. Pressure lanes and rock‑hugging laylines through the Maddalena islands reward boat‑handling and nerve. Ideal from a chase tender near La Maddalena’s channels. Farfalla and Vertigo, both available on charter this summer in the Mediterranean, offer an unforgettable sailing experience of their own.
Saint‑Tropez
12–13 September 2026
National teams race identical F50s at freeway speeds in the bay of Saint‑Tropez. This regatta can be defined as short, sharp, spectacular. A perfect two‑day adrenaline hit in the heart of the Côte d’Azur.
Cannes
22–27 September 2026
Around 150 classic yachts — from pocket racers to grand schooners — turn the Bay of Cannes into a living museum. It’s the Riviera at its most photogenic. Windrose of Amsterdam, a magnificent sailing yacht available for charter, would be the perfect fit at the Cannes Royal Reggata.
Saint Tropez, France
26 September – 4 October 2026
Two weeks where varnished icons and sharp‑edged moderns share the same stage. This iconic regatta includes mornings on the water, evenings on the quay, and the closing of the Saint Tropez season.

Valletta, Malta
17 October 2026
Last but certainly not least, to end to the 2026 regatta season, we find ourselves in Valletta. With grandstand departure from Grand Harbour, then a lap around Sicily with Etna on the horizon. A spectacular way to finish the 2026 season and build excitement for what's to come in 2027.
