Day 01
Welcome to Tulagi Island, where the untouched beauty and raw landscape will transport you back in time. Begin your adventure by visiting Sasape, the Solomon Islands Premier International Shipyard established in 2012. As you prepare for an afternoon of diving, get ready to explore the closest dive site, Twin Tunnels outside of Tulagi. This atoll rises up to about 13 meters with some vertical shafts that go down to 35 - 40 meters. The Western shaft boasts a small cave at the rear of the bottom end with Painted Crays inside, while the top is rich with soft corals, mushroom coral, cuttlefish, and crocodilefish. But before you dive, take a moment to reflect on the island's fascinating history. Occupied by the Japanese in 1942, Tulagi quickly became home to a fleet of PT boats and US Navy ships until 1943. Today, it forms part of Purvis Bay, which also hosted many of the WWII marine vessels.
Day 02
Today, head to the stunning Florida Islands, also known as the Nggela Islands. Start your adventure with a visit to Tanavula Point area, where you'll encounter sheer drop-offs teeming with red tooth triggerfish, soft corals, and gorgonians. After that, cross the Mboli Passage to Anuha, a beautiful island with sandy beaches and many snorkeling spots along the seagrass patches. Keep your eyes peeled for seahorses and coral bombes swarming with fish.
The Mboli Passage itself is a must-see, located between Nggela Sule and Nggela Pile. It served as a sheltered shortcut through the group of Islands and an easy passage to Malaita from Tulagi and now Honiara. Tulagi was the Protectorate's capital from 1897 to 1942, with the adjacent islands serving as commercial bases for prominent merchant companies.
Day 03
Experience the wonders of Karamolun Island and its rich local culture. Begin your day with a morning dive at a ridge that starts off in shallow waters at 4-metres and goes down to 35-metres before dropping away to nothing. Witness the breathtaking sight of sharks, big eye jacks, and pelagic life off the point, as well as excellent shallows. After the dive, head to the local villages, where you'll find dwellings of the welcoming locals situated right on the coast. Immerse yourself in their daily life and culture, witness traditional dances, and learn about their rich family prides.
Day 04
Today, experience the breathtaking Barracuda Point at Mborokua (Mary Island). Dive enthusiasts will be in awe of this impressive underwater point that comes straight out from the rocks, starting at about 4 metres and ending at 40 metres. Witness an incredible array of marine life here, including Schooling jacks at around 8 metres, sleeping white tip reef sharks in about 10 metres, and the larger school of barracuda at around 40 metres. Don't forget to keep an eye out for smaller creatures in the shallows, such as porcelain crabs and anemone fish with eggs. This is truly an experience not to be missed for any diving enthusiast.
Day 05
Today we’ll reach the most northern point of our journey today - Uepi Island. This island boasts a spectacular 2.5km long and 600m wide coastline, making it the largest island in the world. With warm waters from the Marovo Lagoon on one side and the deep marine abyss of "The Slot" on the other (reaching depths of up to 6000ft/2000m), the views here are simply breathtaking. The island is covered in a lush rainforest, perfect for exploring, and there are numerous diving hot spots waiting to be discovered.
Surrounded by approximately 100 little islands, the inner lagoon offers a diverse range of terrestrial and marine habitats to explore on foot, or by kayak or paddleboard. The outstanding natural beauty and environment of Marovo Lagoon makes it an experience you'll never forget.
Day 06
Spend a day exploring the cultural wonders of Peava, located west of Mbulo Island. Begin with a morning dive on one of the outlying islands, where you'll be treated to stunning views of the underwater world. The wall along Mbulo Island is a must-see, featuring an abundance of gorgonians and whips in various shapes, colors, and sizes.
After your dive, head ashore to view the incredible carvings made by the talented locals. While it's not mandatory to buy anything, it's a great way to support the village's enterprising spirit by bringing a piece of their culture home with you.
Day 07
Your crew will anchor your yacht in the bay, stern to, giving you the chance to dive into the crystal-clear water and try out some water sports in the surrounding islands. If you're feeling adventurous, head over to Mirror Pond on the Eastern edge, where a friendly crocodile resides as a reminder of the local wildlife.
As the trip comes to a close, prepare for the journey back to Honiara during the night, before disembarking in the morning.
