Your day starts as any other on board. As you enjoy a relaxed breakfast with the family a commotion in the water will bring your attention to the yacht’s swim platform. Behold as a mystical mermaid presents you with a message in a bottle, and so begins your piratical adventure. A local band of pirates have stolen a magical giant pearl from the ocean floor, one which the creatures of the underwater world can’t survive without. Now the fate of the Caribbean’s aquatic life is in your hands.
The message in the bottle reveals a map and a clue. Jump on your yachts tender and head ashore to the mouth of Indian River. Aptly, this is also the location where The Pirates of the Caribbean movie ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ was filmed. There will be kayaks waiting to take you upriver into the thick jungle. As with any good treasure hunt, this search won’t be without its obstacles. You’ll happen upon a witch doctor on the banks of the river who has a riddle for you and your party. Time is of the essence, answer quick or you’ll be forced to retreat, or even worse, cursed by this shady character.
Carry on upstream where you’ll find a red piece of cloth tied to branch. Here, continue on foot through the luscious flora, past waterfalls and gorges to discover the next piece of the puzzle; a rusty key and a second map. As you tender back to your yacht, you hear cannon fire and on the horizon, you spot the treacherous sails of a pirate ship. Two pirates approach your yacht by rowboat to bring a warning of the gravest kind, “Cease your search now or else...”.
Of course, you disregard the pirates warning and another morning of searching for treasure takes you to a deserted beach where you’ll meet an escaped pirate prisoner, but beware as you’re being watched. He gives you the final map that shows the stolen pearl to be located underwater, close to your yacht, where X marks the spot. Suddenly the beach is invaded by the enemy and a fight ensues as the prisoner is re-captured, allowing you time to jump back in the tender and race back to your yacht, this time with the pirates hot on your trail. Pick up dive and snorkelling gear and follow the map to reach the buried treasures location. Accompanied by your dive guide you’ll rescue the treasure in the nick of time. Return to your yacht, triumphant, and hand the pearl to the mystical mermaid who’ll be waiting close by.
Your experience will be rounded off by a beach BBQ celebration banquet with fire breathers, dancers and acrobats. A celebration that even the pirates won’t be able to resist.
This is just an example of the type of Caribbean family adventure that can be curated. We recommend the islands south of Antigua for this experience due to topography and flora of the islands but the length and action level of the experience is flexible and can be adapted to your itinerary, your budget and your travel companions.
The adventure is designed to be enjoyed by the whole family. Younger guests will love the treasure hunt and pirate encounters, while older children and adults can immerse themselves in the challenges, clues and action throughout the experience.
Guests become part of the story from the moment the first clue arrives on board. Throughout the adventure, you'll interact with a cast of characters, solve puzzles, follow treasure maps and uncover clues as the story unfolds around you.
No prior experience is required. The activities are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of ages and abilities, with the level of difficulty tailored to your group.
The activity level can be adjusted to your preferences. Some itineraries may involve short hikes, kayaking and swimming, while others can focus more on exploration and storytelling.
The yacht becomes part of the storyline, serving as both your base and means of transport as you follow clues between locations. Guests travel by tender, kayak and on foot as the treasure hunt unfolds across the island.
As the adventure includes tender transfers, kayaking, exploring ashore and time in the water, comfortable clothing, swimwear, suitable footwear and sun protection are recommended. Snorkelling and diving equipment can be arranged as part of the experience.
The experience can be tailored to suit your charter itinerary, ranging from a half-day treasure hunt to a full-day adventure. The pace and activities can also be adjusted based on your group's preferences, energy levels and the day's conditions, ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone.
With dense rainforest, hidden rivers, dramatic coastlines and secluded beaches, Dominica provides a natural backdrop that feels perfectly suited to a real-life treasure hunt and pirate story.
Yes. Rather than simply visiting a destination, guests become part of an unfolding story. The combination of actors, themed challenges and stunning natural scenery creates a far more immersive experience than a traditional tour.
Whether it's deciphering clues, escaping pirates, discovering hidden treasure or celebrating together on the beach afterwards, the adventure is designed to create the kind of family stories that will be retold long after the yacht charter has ended.
